I had the privilege of having Lisa Dellamora as an adjunct professor in my education courses at NYU during my junior and senior years. Lisa’s evident passion for teaching, learning, and development of curriculum- specifically related to literacy- was a powerful facilitator of our cohort’s learning and direction in post-college education. In addition, Lisa shared her wealth of knowledge about “how” to teach with kids at the heart of learning and develop curriculum that was based on student strengths and needs.
Her guiding questions of “Why am I doing this?” and “How is this good for children?” remain at the heart of my teaching. Lisa’s experiences as a classroom teacher, professional developer, and at the time, a doctorate student, made her a well-rounded, experienced mentor for future educators.
I was fortunate to develop a relationship with Lisa that has lasted well beyond my college years and into my teaching career. Lisa has continued to be a mentor in my professional career. Without question, I know that I can contact Lisa with questions or concerns about curriculum, administration and leadership, resources and anything other issues that may arise. Lisa’s drive and continued desire for personal growth as an educator are what drive her to be a successful educator, mentor, professional developer and confidant.
Lisa’s evident passion for teaching, learning, and development of curriculum- specifically related to literacy- was a powerful facilitator of our cohort’s learning and direction in post-college education.
